The Laws of the Idol
Core Rules
- The Spin — Your manager spins the wheel to assign a random task or assigns you a task that is idol eligible. Your manager can make that distinction, but it should be a task that can be assigned to anyone on your team.
- Playing the Idol — If the wheel lands on you and you hold an idol, play it. Task nullified. Wheel re-spins without your name. If this is just an idol eligible task assignment then your manager will need to reassign it to someone else.
- Anonymity — The rest of the team never sees who holds a hunt idol (unless you use your real name) until it is used — the public idol list never shows a holder's name. Whoever has admin access can see current holders at any time through the admin panel, so this anonymity holds as long as that access stays limited.
- Multiple Idols — More than one idol can be in circulation at the same time — any mix of hunt and reward idols. Multiple hunts can be live simultaneously, each with its own clue.
- Idol Visibility — The top of the page lists every idol currently in circulation: its name, type, current status, and expiry. This tells you what exists and roughly what state it's in — it never reveals who is holding a hunt idol.
Idol Types
- Hunt Idol — Enters circulation through a public clue or riddle. Anyone who solves it claims it. After being played, the holder is expected to hide it again within 24 hours so the hunt can continue — the app doesn't enforce this with a timer, but that's the expectation.
- Reward Idol — Issued directly to a specific person by a manager or senior, for a job well done. No hunt, no clue — it goes straight to that person.
- Reward Idols Are Single-Use — Once played, a reward idol is retired for good. It does not get hidden, does not re-enter a hunt, and disappears from the idol list entirely. If you want another one out there, an admin issues a brand new one.
Expiry
- Set By Admin — Every idol may have an expiration date, chosen when it's created or reissued.
- Grace Period — Hunt idols get a 24 hour grace period once expired, during which the current holder can only hide it, not play it — that window exists solely to get a clue posted before the idol is lost. Nothing announces this to the team; check the idol list on the page to see current status.
- Reward Idols Have No Grace Period — Since there's no hiding step for a reward, its expiration is a hard cutoff. The moment it passes, the idol is immediately gone.
- Automatic Removal — Once an idol is fully expired — instantly for a reward, or after the 24 hour grace period for a hunt idol — it's automatically removed from circulation entirely, the same as if an admin had manually expired it. It won't sit around waiting; if you want another one out there, an admin creates a fresh one.
- Fresh Clock on Claim — When a hunt idol is claimed, its expiration resets from that moment using the current default duration, not the original creation date.
Hiding the Idol (Hunt Idols Only)
- Hiding Expected Within 24 Hours — After playing a hunt idol, please hide it again within 24 hours. To hide it, just upload the same file again and you'll be presented with the hiding options. There's no timer forcing this — it's an expectation, not something the app automatically enforces.
- Two Methods — Post a riddle (first correct answer wins) or hide a URL (finder must enter the exact URL of the hidden page to claim). The hidden URL can be anywhere but should probably be something work related.
- Public Hunt — All clues are visible to the entire team simultaneously, and if more than one hunt idol is live at once, every active clue shows up on the page at the same time. No head starts.
- First Wins — Each hunt locks the moment someone answers correctly. All subsequent attempts on that hunt are logged with names/alias and timestamps for admins to determine server-delay related ties.
- Idol Image Generated — Winner receives their idol image immediately. Download it before closing the tab.
- Trash Talk — Always encouraged.
The Idol File
- Proof of Possession — Your idol image file is the only proof you hold that idol. Each image has a unique name — do not rename it or the idol will be void.
- One Active File Per Idol — Only one valid file exists per idol at a time. When a new one is issued the old one stops working immediately.
- Download It Now — Your idol image is generated once. If lost, contact an admin — they can reissue a fresh file for either type through the admin panel. (Honesty is important — if you use an alias there is no way for the admin to know who you are.)
- Sharing — Sharing your idol file is technically legal. Alliances could be made. There is nothing to stop you from using a hunt idol to save someone else. Why would you do this? Unknown. But you could.
The Submission Log
- All attempts recorded — Every submission timestamped server-side with submitter name/alias, tracked per hunt.
- Admin only — Only admins can view the log via Admin → View Log, selecting whichever idol's hunt you want to review.
- Tiebreaker — Log order determines the winner in any dispute.
